Apple Hill’s soil and climate produce premium fruits. Here, you’ll find innovative, family-run wineries working at their own pace, making small lots of wines from diverse grapes.
All of our tours were designed by the winery owners to make for a memorable experience. Each tour can be tailored to suit your needs and can include meals.
Fenton Herriott Vineyards
While still a relatively new winery, Fenton Herriott Vineyards shows a long-held passion for wine in the complex yet infinitely drinkable wines that they create. To ensure the quality of the wines, this family-run winery uses only the best grapes available and then ages their red wines for up to two years in French or American oak, depending on the variety. Their thoughtful attention to every detail helps bring out the fruity, complex, aromatic, and spicy characteristics in each wine.
Primus Vineyards
The main Primus Vineyards building was the original apple stand where local legend Marilyn Thomas first started baking her pies, which transformed the area into Apple Hill. Today it is home to Primus’ delicious Zinfandel, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, red wine blend, and dessert wine.
Boeger Winery
In its three decades, Boeger Winery has remained committed to only one standard—quality. You’ll taste this in their wines. The winery grows 90 percent of their own grapes and has stayed small enough to allow full attention to the details of winemaking. Boeger pushes the boundaries of winemaking as well, producing Merlot, when it was virtually unheard of in California. Today Boeger pioneers innovative blends and brings new and uncommon varietals to the market place.
Lava Cap
Lava Cap winery and vineyards offers an outstanding selection of mountain-grown wines that are noted for intense varietal flavors and aromas. Most of their wines are produced from their estate vineyards. Low yields, lots of sunlight, warm days, and cool nights all contribute to grapes of marvelous character. This great fruit becomes great wine with Lava Cap’s exceptional care and attention to detail.
